SPARK STUDIO IS DESIGNED TO BUILD THE MATH, READING, WRITING, SELF-REGULATORY, AND SOCIAL SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS IN THE HIGHLY INDEPENDENT ELEMENTARY STUDIO, OR WHEREVER THEIR JOURNEY TAKES THEM NEXT.

Our Eagles practice basic goal setting and complete challenges at their own pace to earn learning “badges” in math, reading, and citizenship. The rest of the time, they learn through exploration in a series of hands-on project Quests and present what they’ve discovered at an exhibition at the end of each Session.

In SPARKS Studio, we follow the key principles of a Montessori education:

A deep respect for the child as a unique individual as the cornerstone of all the other principles

Three-hour work cycle (3-Hour Work Cycle (Montessori) – Montepedia link to 3 hour work cycle)to deepen learning and improve focus, concentration, and attention span
Mixed-age groupings to allow for peer-to-peer learning, leadership opportunities and mixed-age socialization
Freedom of movement and independent choice
Focus on five key areas of learning, including practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language, and culture
Experiential learning, investigation, and research, through the use of authentic Montessori materials, spread out throughout the space and divided by key area
Focus on educating the whole child, including physical, spiritual, social, mental, and emotional education
Emphasis on peace, the community, mutual respect, and a global perspective, including learning peaceful conflict resolution skills
